QUESTION OF THE MONTH: Why we celebrate the 1st May?
ANSWER: The International Labour Day dates back to 1886. On 1 May 1886t, the Chicago police were forced to suppress workers’ demonstration in which workers demanded for reduction of working time to 8 hours per day. There were casualties. Three years later the 2nd International Congress held in Paris declared May 1st the day of workers’ solidarity around the world.
